A semi-automatic system for solar system cleaning made in Germany had to prove itself under particularly harsh external conditions in the desert of Jordan. Despite sand and extremely high temperatures, the results are so good that the customer wants to invest in further machines.

Giant Industrial Group, based in Al Mafraq, about an hour's drive from Jordan's capital Amman, is a manufacturer of detergents and cleaning products for industry and private households. The company was founded in 1991 and has grown steadily over the years, expanding its production and storage facilities. Today, the company and its 240 employees have an area of 95,000 square meters at their disposal to produce 60 million kilograms of detergents and cleaning agents annually. The products are now exported to 24 countries.

In February 2017, the company's own 17,150-square-meter solar plant, which is spread over the production and storage facilities as well as parking lot roofing, was put into operation. The plant consists of 7,694 panels from the Jordanian module manufacturer Philadelphia Solar. At around three megawatts, it is currently the largest rooftop installation in Jordan. The Giant Industrial Group is thus able to produce 70 percent of its own electricity consumption - which, in addition to the ecological benefits, also brings economic advantages: a reduction in production costs.
